2014 MINI Models to Scrap Large Center Speedometer

Sometime before the end of this year, MINI plans to unveil its next-generation three-door model, and noticeably missing from it will be the signature large central speedometer.

It appears that the British automaker will replace it with an infotainment system, that is obviously more natural to anyone that has ever driven a car. Over the years, many MINI owners have complained that the large, central speedometer is difficult to read, which the automaker addressed by adding a second digital speedo on current MINI models.

The next-generation MINI will also feature a similar BMW iDrive-style controller to control the infotainment system that will now be placed in the center of the dash. We’ll be keeping our eyes out for official photos of the new MINI’s interior.
